Chinese Lessons
Course Levels and Progression
For Absolute Beginners
This course is perfect for those starting from scratch and eager to learn Chinese. You will build a strong foundation in both the language and culture. We’ll focus on accurate pronunciation and tones. Whether you're improving your spoken Chinese to communicate with native speakers, or simply interested in the language and culture, this course is ideal for you.
For Students Preparing for HSK 1 & 2
If you already know the basics of pronunciation, pinyin, and some simple expressions, the HSK 1 course is the perfect next step. This course will help you refine your pronunciation, expand your vocabulary, help you recognize and write basic Chinese characters and improve your language skills, preparing you for the HSK 1 exam and a smooth transition to HSK 2.
For Students Preparing for HSK 3
The HSK 3 course will help you expand your knowledge of Chinese characters and master more complex grammar structures. At this level, pinyin is no longer used, allowing you to read and write entirely in Chinese. Additionally, since HSK 3 requires you to take the HSKK speaking exam, this course places a strong emphasis on speaking practice. Through comprehensive training in speaking, writing, reading, and listening, you will improve your overall language skills. By the end of the course, you will be well-prepared for both the HSK 3 exam and the HSKK speaking exam, and confident in using Chinese for everyday communication.
What is HSK?
HSK
(Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì), or Chinese Proficiency Test, is the only official Mandarin language proficiency exam for non-native speakers in China. It consists of six levels, from HSK1 to HSK6, and its results are widely recognized and accepted internationally.
The test is administered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (formerly Hanban), an institution under the Ministry of Education of China, which is also responsible for the Confucius Institutes.
Pinyin: The official romanization system for Standard Mandarin Chinese.
HSK test results can be used to:
Assess your Mandarin proficiency level.
Demonstrate Chinese language proficiency to employers.
Apply for Confucius Institute Scholarships (CIS).
Apply for admission to universities in China.
